In the wake of the PL+S launch of A PG’s new amplifier range, UK rental specialists, Plus 4 Audio, have bolstered their APG inventory wi th twelve SA30:2 amplifiers to power the Uniline modular line array system that was purchase d last year.
Housed in a 1U chassis, the dual channel SA30:2 del ivers 2600W into 4 Ohms per channel or 5200W into 8 Ohms in bridged mode. Specifically int ended for APG’s high power systems such as Uniline and including the TB subs, the SA30:2s are a welcome addition to Plus 4’s rental stock.
“I’d been waiting for APG to come out with a turnke y APG solution, and I have to say that I’m genuinely satisfied with the results,” says Plus 4 MD, Stewart Chaney. “The power and the sound quality of the SA30:2 is clearly an improvement ove r our previous amplifier solution and has led to noticeably better results from the system as a whol e. We were already achieving great sound from our Uniline system, but now it’s better than ever.”
Chaney has opted to build two racks of 6 x SA30:2 and two APG DMS26 digital loudspeaker processors each (plus patchbay), with which he can manage and drive his full Uniline system including subs. “Apart from the sound quality, I al so appreciate the fact that these amplifiers are lighter and more compact than most other amplifiers with the same power output,” continued Chaney. “I’ve been able to build my racks with six amplifiers and two processors each without being too heavily penalized in terms of weight – ho wever, in terms of power output for their size, they blow anything else out of the water! It’s grea t for what we do as it means I never risk running out of headroom. Even in situations that demand tha t the system be driven hard, we’ll never be forced to push it to its limits, we’ll always have something in reserve which is both good for the system and good for our stress levels!”
