APG sound systems enhance the listening experience in a variety of iconic venues on the Côte d'Azur, with local integrators such as PM Production (PMP) working closely with the manufacturer to ensure smooth sounds and optimal sound diffusion for a discerning clientele.
Based in Villeneuve-Loubet, south of Nice, and with a secondary office in Gassin, near Saint-Tropez, PMP has supplied and installed sound systems in renowned establishments such as La Môme restaurant in Cannes, Café de Paris opposite the port of Saint-Tropez, and Le Nautic private beach in La Croix-Valmer, to name but a few.
Headed by Alexandre Pirotte, who launched the company in his final year at school in 2017, PMP met members of the APG team at a recent JTSE show in Paris and was impressed - not only by the company's product range, but also by its commercial approach. Since then, their relationship has developed over the years, with Pirotte working closely with APG sales engineer Rodolphe Pirotte, based in Pau in south-west France.
"Working with APG, we discovered many similarities in our philosophy, our business approach and our pride in the quality of the products and services we offer," explains Pirotte.
"All the projects we have carried out with APG have been a success thanks to these shared values and the trust APG places in its partners."
"Pirotte continues: "Our proximity, both in human and geographical terms, also facilitates excellent after-sales service. "In the event of a problem, a simple call is all it takes and a solution is quickly found.
The La Môme group, which owns La Môme as well as several other establishments, has established itself as one of the leading players in the Cannes entertainment scene. With several projects in the pipeline, including the opening of a private beach, the group approached PMP to equip La Môme with sound systems ahead of the peak summer season.
Initially, the owners were considering using a product from a mainstream manufacturer, but were persuaded by a demonstration of APG loudspeakers by PMP.
"Initially, customers wanted to switch to another brand, but the advertised lead time was six months," says Pirotte. "So we gave them a demonstration of APG and they were immediately won over. Three weeks later, they were fitted with APG equipment.
The Cannes Festival accelerated the expansion of the La Môme group, which gradually acquired new properties, including a Japanese cul-de-sac restaurant in Mido, and more recently, La Môka.
More recently, a shop next door to the restaurant was bought to extend La Môme's restaurant space. This temporary space was equipped with APG loudspeakers installed by PMP.
After the summer season, a partition will be removed to transform the space into a larger restaurant, called La Môme Group Hot Spot. PMP will then return to recalibrate the system once construction is complete.
"We currently have our iS115 compact speakers and nine SPOT 2.6-i speakers installed in the space. They blend in perfectly with the decor and sound great, whether at low volume or when a DJ is cranking up the volume to liven up the evening," explains Pirotte. "This project is ongoing, and we'll be back at the start of the season to adjust and update the system."
Pirotte points out that the installation was carried out at high speed, because the new owner wanted to equip his space quickly so that he could welcome customers as soon as possible.
"I remember the calibration," he says. "I arrived at around 7.30pm, just after the installation, and one of the waiters came up to me thinking there was a problem. He said, 'Wow, the sound is incredible' - and I told him he could have waited for the good news, because that kind of comment is pretty rare!"
The audio system includes two APG DA8 DSP+D amplifiers and a single 240V power supply for the amplifiers, as well as an APG IXO processor, which manages the outdoor speakers.
"There are five La Môme establishments in this street, and the loudspeakers in all these rooms are interconnected via Dante," explains Pirotte. "PMP therefore always has to provide additional speakers to be integrated into the system, including for outdoor broadcasting.
Although the work is not yet complete, Mike Cheikli, artistic director of the La Môme group, is delighted with the result and is looking forward to equipping other establishments in the group with APG solutions.
"I didn't have to insist on convincing our integrator PMP and Alexandre to opt for high-quality sound," he concludes. "They helped me discover an interesting alternative to consumer solutions.
